To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow

audrey hepburn quote

Can I get an amen?  Wow this speaks volumes to my gardening – growing loving heart. Does it to you?  Do you feel the garden or dreams of gardening calling more than ever? I do and I’ve been gardening for nearly 15 years. The call is stronger, the yearn is growing, my dreams are getting bigger.   This is my most emotional post I’ve written to date.

Over the past few years I have been encouraged by several friends that I really need to teach others as they are hearing the call as well. To be honest I was hesitant at first. I was questioning myself …

can I really teach people?

will they appreciate my crazy?

how do I put a cost to something I’m obsessed with?

will I be able to convey my passion?

will they actually listen?

should I actually go forth and trust?

There was a calling on my heart as well- driven by our Lord- Yes Laura, it’s your time

to teach people

to show your crazy

put a price on it

show them your passion

talk and they will listen

trust ME and go forward

I did- I trusted His voice. In 2019 I started hosting free and very relaxed classes, to show people the basics, give garden tours and hopefully inspire. (I still hold garden tours because I literally can’t help myself!) I also handed out which then turned out to be my Famous Purple Podded Pole Beans (video below) which grows in many gardens now. That in itself is such a cool thing to me, my little baby bean seeds are growing everywhere.  Those classes showed  me that yes people were willing to listen to me and actually implement the things I was teaching.  I decided to trust even more and design workbooks to go along with intentional workshops. The tricky part was figuring out a cost. I don’t know about you but money and getting paid makes me uncomfortable. But those same friends said Laura, your worth it and your time is valuable.  It’s true, the crazy amount of time and energy I put into every. single. workshop  and those who attend is immense.  I truly have opened myself and showed everyone my crazy and my passion.  It’s been absolutely worth it, with no questions asked.  And guess what? People like the crazy and passion!! How exciting to fill their cup with knowledge but in turn fill my cup knowing that I’m teaching & inspiring others to have Freedom in Food.

The past few months I’ve taken everything up a notch. I’ve redesigned my website after hearing my original one looked “like a child designed it”. Ouch! But it was sort of true. The push from some hopefully well intentioned jerk (who I don’t even know) made me go outside of my comfort zone and completely re do it. And I am very happy that I did. I also launched the Kitchen Revival Facebook Group that has over 500 members, many which are very active. I have received some insanely positive feedback that honestly makes me uncomfortable, humble and very very thankful that I listened.

Now I’ve launched an online private membership site that will  host many of my workbooks, videos, Q&A calls, and my personal help to any individual that joins. This to me is my scariest thing to date – the same questions as above flood my head yet again.  But I need to stop and listen, is this His will?  Do I keep pressing on and see if this new adventure pans out? I’m praying I’m listening and that it does pan out.

So for now, I thank my support group that has given me so much love, encourage, and support. My Husband, My Mom and my Friends (you know who you are) and ultimately for God placing me at the right spot, right time, with the right heart.

Your homesteading, crazy plant friend

Laura
