Recipe Time!

Today I”m sharing with you how I cook from scratch three meals a day, all year long. Sounds daunting doesn’t it?  I’m  here to say it’s not!

Plus some awesome printables and bonus a Cook From Scratch Template. (Scroll down after watching the video)

Don’t over complicate cooking from home. It’s simple. You can make it simple.

So what am I talking about?  I’m talking about a few basic ingredients that you can switch up weekly or to your taste buds and create a home cooked, from scratch meal every day.

Protein + Side + Veggie

It’s old school, think of Laura Ingalls Wilder days. We are on the prairie, the store is not within a buggy ride.  But we need to eat don’t we? What do we do? Pa goes out and gets the protein (Vegetarian friends you know your protein replacements much better than I do- when I was a vegetarian for over a decade in my 20’s all I ate was pizza, so I won’t give to much advice there). We need a side dish & a vegetable.  Grab something from the cold cellar or re hydrate some dried beans, and mash up some tators.

So why is that we need to complicate things by over thinking it and adding in 15 courses, unheard of ingredients & spices? Well I”m here to say we do NOT need to do that at all.  Go back to the basics.  If a recipe calls for a certain ingredient that you do not have, you improvise. Think outside of the box.  If it doesn’t turn out that good there’s always homemade bbq, ranch or hot sauce!

I think one of my most important things to convey during the Kitchen Revival is that simple is good.  To learn to trust yourself in the kitchen. To improvise or not even follow recipes. To feel the dough and know it’s ready to be baked. To mix together wholesome ingredients to create meals.

I like to call a lot of my dishes- One Pot Wonders and throw it all together and place in the oven with cheese on top of course.

I don’t know about you but I love printables, they can really make me feel happy. Do they for you?  We are now entertaining into the Recipe time so we need a lovely page to start that off! – Now I just got done saying I hope you don’t need to follow recipes so am I going back on that? No, we all need inspiration sometimes. We are always on information overload and don’t have the brain space to come up with stuff, so if your in that arena right now I”m here to help.  Follow recipes loosely and allow your some for some fun creation in the kitchen and Fall Back In Love With Food!!
