Chow Mein Recipe
Copycat version from Panda Express with a healthier flare
This copycat recipe is easy & quick to whip up, plus it tastes great! I’ve made a couple adjustments to make it healthier. For instance I use Bragg’s Liquid Aminos (found at most stores) in replace of Soy sauce (Soy is loaded with msg & salt) I also replaced the olive oil with Lard because we have plenty of that always on hand due to raising our own organic fed pasture raised piggies. I also exchanged out the refrigerator oodles Yaki-Soba for Ramen (brown rice/millet) noodles from Costco or Azure Standard. These are so delicious, organic and versatile. Another recipe I use these Ramen noodles for is Garlic Butter & Capers. Also feel free to alter ingredients and or lesson more for your own taste buds.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 Cup Braggs Liquid Aminos aka soy sauce
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
- 5 Noodle cakes (ramen) or other favorite thin noodles
- 2 tablespoons lard/olive oil/butter
- 1 onion chopped
- 2-3 stalks celery diced
- 2-3 cups shredded cabbage
DIRECTIONS:Â
- In a small bowl, whisk together the liquid aminos (soy sauce), garlic, brown sugar and ginger. Set aside for now.
- In a large pot boil water and add noodles and cook according to directions.
- Heat lard/olive oil/butter over medium high and add in the onion and celery. Saute until tender.
- Stir in the cabbage until wilted down 2-4 minutes and add in the noodles.
- Add in the sauce and mix to incorporate all together.
- Serve!! You could also add in a protein source like cooked chicken to make this a full meal.
