Chicken Coop Dirt Cake

A Sweet Treat for Any Party!

Here’s a great recipe for the traditional Dirt Cake but taken to a new level for the Homestead! My dad  made this cake for me a few times when I was a teenager, unfortunately he is no longer here with us but my wonderful mother in law will make this for  me. And its’ one of those time’s I”ll actually eat a sweet because of the nostalgia and I love me some oreo cookies. However since becoming a prood I have switched up a few things- I’m able to find organic “oreo” cookies from the store now so I feel better about the splurge. I’ve also made my own “whipped cream” and “vanilla pudding” using organic raw milk.  I do not have those directions listen below because I have not tested them enough, I will however include the links to where I sourced the recipe from to create the whipped cream & pudding. I do have a recipe that I intend to print and try out for homemade oreo’s that I’m really excited about!

I used some of my kid’s toys to help make it even extra with a coop and chickens running around. I hope you enjoy this nostalgic recipe that I made for my son’s birthday this year to pass on the tradition plus give  me a reason to make this delicious splurge of a treat!

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Crush the cookies until they resemble potting soil. Place a thin layer on the bottom of your container.

2. Cream together the cream cheese, butter, sugar and vanilla until well blended. (I use my kitchen aid with paddle attachment)

3. Combine the pudding mix and milk and fold in the whipped topping

4. Gently fold the cream cheese and the pudding mixture together and pour into your container.

5. Top with remaining cookie crumbs, cover with foil and refrigerate for a few hours and serve.
