Fermenting Veggies
Hi Friends!
Fermenting Veggies is an amazing way to extend your harvest from the garden or farmers markets PLUS listen to this- by fermenting your veggies your creating Probiotics!! It sure does, can you believe it? By submerging veggies in a salt brine the salt helps keep the bad bacteria at bay and allows the good bacteria to grow. This creates those gut saving probiotics we all need. Pretty cool huh? When you create your own there’s actually way more than when you purchase a bottle or buying that over sugared yogurt at the store.
This topic could go on and on and I have a lot to learn on it, this is my 2nd year of making Fermented Salsa & Fermented Carrots. The salsa is delicious and can stay fresh in your fridge for months. Same with the carrots, I cut them into sticks and the kids get 1 a day. I’m also experimenting with the famous Sauerkraut, a Jalapeno Mash, Fermented Onions, and a Relish. I’ve tried Fermented Pickles -eww gross!! I’ve also fermented Garlic Scapes that are not good to snack on but I put those in my mashed potatoes the other day and that worked out great!
