The Holiday Season can bring on so many different emotions right? Overwhelming, sadness, wonderful, gladness, tears, smiles, laughter, rushing around, and so many things. How do you Holiday?

Over the last several years especially since moving to Northern Michigan we take a much more laid back approach and gosh does it feel good. It feels good to not have so much pressure over the holiday season. It feels good to just chill, enjoy and bask in the glory what the season really means. The birth of Jesus, our savior that God sent to us so that we may have Hope and Joy in knowing Him. How wonderful of a season it is!

We purposely don’t run around to here there and everywhere. Our Christmas Tradition is this: Christmas Eve = Church Service + Kids open their stockings and get their Christmas Pajamas. (This year the Pj’s are from the Honest Company, yay organic cotton!)

When the kids reluctantly go to bed we put out the presents (This year we have decided to let the kids know that Santa is not who brings the gifts, they seem to have picked up on it quite a bit ago but I came clean, and I’m so glad I did. I am really enjoying them knowing that it’s us that gives the presents and that the Lord has provided an abundance that we are able to give the gifts plus the pressure is off!!)

We also decorate the main area of the house with many many Christmas lights that hang everywhere, like to the point where you can’t really stand up because they are draped everywhere. It’s absolutely beautiful and magical and I love it, so do they! The husband not so much… the ducking to walk through the living room is not his favorite 😉

Christmas day they wake up and we make them stay at the top off the steps until 1. We had coffee 2. Video camera set up 3. They all brushed their teeth. Then they come on down!!  Time to open the presents 1 at a time.  It  makes it last much longer.

For Breakfast it will be Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls and our own bacon.  Lunch will be Sourdough Pizza and weather permitting Dinner will be Homemade Macaroni & Cheese by the Firepit outside. It’s a lovely tradition we all look forward to doing.

This was last year’s Christmas! We got dumped on with snow so no outside firepit and mac N chz
