How To Cook a Whole Chicken- The Easy Way!

Note: There’s no way to make a pulled apart chicken pretty unless it’s covered in cheese.

Let’s make dinner easy!!! It’s really quite simple and I’m excited to be showing you how we have cooked our Whole Organic Chickens for many years. We are quite blessed to have the space, the knowledge and the go get ‘em attitude to raise our own Organic Chickens. We leave 95% of the chickens whole when we process them ourselves because cutting up the chickens takes some skill and lots more time we just don’t seem to have. So this has taken my kitchen and cooking skills to a different level. There’s not much chicken breast recipes or wing recipes which I do miss at times. Luckily though I’ve come up with many many delicious and incredibly easy recipes to use Whole Chickens.

So let’s dive into how I cook my whole chickens and I”ll share with you my favorite recipes and I”ll keep adding to this page as well.

Ingredients:

Whole Chicken (Frozen or Thawed)
Crockpot
Water

Directions:

1. Place whole chicken which can be frozen or thawed into your large enough crock pot.
2. Pour water into the crockpot at least 2 inches deep.
3. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until done.

That’s it!! Simple as that! If you want to rub spices and then put in the crock pot go for it!

The first night I cook the whole chicken, I take it apart and make bone broth with everything but the meat. We eat the meat as is and dip it in bbq sauce. I’ll pair this with a sourdough honey roll, grab a canned jar of green beans or carrots, or make a pasta side dish like the one’s below.

Don’t forget to make the Chicken Bone Broth!!! It’s incredibly easy, just as easy as the above recipe.
