Soup Season - comforting and cozy homemade soups

Learning Old Fashioned Ways in a Modern World with Laura Lawrence

Hi Reader

It’s that time of year again — when the air turns crisp, the wood stove starts calling, and soup just feels right. 🍲

I’ve been spending my evenings finalizing the last edits of my upcoming cookbook — Seed to Plate: A Homesteading Garden Guide & Cookbook. It’s such a full-circle moment seeing these pages come together after all the seasons spent growing, preserving, and cooking from our little homestead above the 45th.

This week, I’ve also been busy tucking garlic into the soil for next year’s harvest and wrapping up the garden — one of those bittersweet tasks that reminds me how much food, and life, run in cycles.

And while the garden rests, the kitchen comes alive again…
From simmering soups to fresh bread and roasted roots — this is the season of cozy comfort.

If you’re craving something simple and nourishing, I’ll be sharing a few of my favorite comforting soup recipes below— the same ones that will appear in my cookbook!

Stay warm, stay grounded, and keep creating your own freedom in food. 💚

Warmly,
Laura Lawrence

About

Welcome to my Blog- I’ll share with you what our Homestead looks like and how we raise 80% of our food, all organically, sustainably, naturally and beautifully.

I’m hoping to inspire you that you can do this as well! God has provided our family with all the things, but the big thing He has given us is the drive to get ‘er done! We didn’t start out with all this, we started very slow, replacing one thing at a time, learning one thing at a time.
