Helping families grow food, cook from scratch, preserve the harvest, and build practical homesteading skills—one lesson at a time.
We can our tomato sauce OUTSIDE 🔥🍅

Hey guys!
It’s almost tomato season!
And around here that means it’s time to start canning like a mad woman. 😂
When you’ve spent months planting, tending, watering and waiting for those tomatoes, there’s something incredibly satisfying about finally seeing buckets of them coming out of the garden.
But then comes the next question…
What in the world do you do with all of them?!
For us, a LOT become tomato sauce.
And one of my favorite ways to make and preserve a big batch is to take the entire operation outside.
We cut the tomatoes, run them through the strainer, cook down huge batches of sauce and even water-bath can the jars outside over the fire.
Why?
Because it’s tomato season. It’s HOT.
I don’t need all that extra heat, steam and mess in my kitchen. 😂
Plus, I love being outside.
In this video I’m taking you through our whole tomato-sauce day—from tomatoes straight out of our garden all the way to jars that will eventually end up in our pantry.
And that’s really what all of this is about for me.
Grow it. Preserve it. Feed your family with it.
Because months from now, when the garden is covered in snow, we’ll open one of these jars for pizza, spaghetti, lasagna or stuffed peppers.
That’s when all those long summer days really pay off.
What’s coming out of your garden right now—and what are you doing with it?
Happy preserving!

P.S. If you want to keep learning with me beyond YouTube, we’re building something pretty special inside the Food Prood Academy—gardening, preserving, sourdough, herbs, animals, homesteading and the old-fashioned skills worth passing on.
Welcome to my Blog- I’ll share with you what our Homestead looks like and how we raise 80% of our food, all organically, sustainably, naturally and beautifully.
I’m hoping to inspire you that you can do this as well! God has provided our family with all the things, but the big thing He has given us is the drive to get ‘er done! We didn’t start out with all this, we started very slow, replacing one thing at a time, learning one thing at a time.
