Laura Lawrence

Hi Reader

If you’ve been hanging out with me much at all you’ll know how much I love planting garlic and encouraging others to plant as well. If you want to learn how I have a free training lesson that teaches you literally every single step on how to grow, harvest & cure garlic. Learn how HERE.

I’m currently awaiting anxiously the sight of my scapes (I grow hardneck) – once they start appearing I’ll cut them off and use them in several recipes like my “Poor Man’s Pesto” or my “Fried Garlic Scapes” If you grew hardnecks as well once they have one full curl snip them off -this directs the energy to the bulbs to grow larger, and trust me it will make a HUGE difference!

Updates from the farm:
We currently have about 300 animals on the farm and it is beyond BUSY, like ridiculous! We are also trying to get the gardens in, I’m running about two weeks behind but we had a late spring so it makes sense. I’m feeling anxious about it, but I also know that actually the timing may work out better than usual- we’ll see come fall!

I’m also busy harvesting and dehydrating the herbs that are appearing such as stinging nettles (great for tea, antihistamine), comfrey (great for pulled muscles and sprains) and plantain (the best for a salve to help with stings & bites. If you’d like to learn more about herbs visit my membership on Patreon – this is a great way to support me please grow your knowledge. You can join for free to start or upgrade to access all the lessons.

What is keeping you busy this spring?

Toodles for now but before I go and start the morning chores if you’d like to watch a short video on how I started homesteading you can check that out here.

About

Welcome to my Blog- I’ll share with you what our Homestead looks like and how we raise 80% of our food, all organically, sustainably, naturally and beautifully.

I’m hoping to inspire you that you can do this as well! God has provided our family with all the things, but the big thing He has given us is the drive to get ‘er done! We didn’t start out with all this, we started very slow, replacing one thing at a time, learning one thing at a time.
