Winter Vibes + 15 Feet of Snow + Ice Dams

Northern Michigan in the snow belt, specifically the buckle of the snow belt at our location has been hit pretty hard this year. The snow has been very powdery but accumulating like nuts. We have more than the nearest city due to how we’re situated. Raking the roof becomes common, removing the ice dams before to much damage happens. Trying to keep enough area plowed to feed animals, but we are running out of room! It’s a whole different world, even if the world was only a half an hour away.

Lake effect is a serious thing.

Microclimates play a lot into it.

Trying to survive is a common feeling. The white pure snow is beautiful and reminds me of Jesus covering our sins. The house is warm, the food is plenty and the kids are loving the mile high snow piles.

Glass half full… of snow that is.

About

Welcome to my Blog- I’ll share with you what our Homestead looks like and how we raise 80% of our food, all organically, sustainably, naturally and beautifully.

I’m hoping to inspire you that you can do this as well! God has provided our family with all the things, but the big thing He has given us is the drive to get ‘er done! We didn’t start out with all this, we started very slow, replacing one thing at a time, learning one thing at a time.
